Residential Initiative on the Study of the Environment (RISE)

RISE students studying the water in the Red Cedar River.RISE is a program for MSU students interested in stewardship of the environment.  RISE provides students a community and curriculum focused on the environment as students get their feet wet and hands dirty applying their knowledge to real life problems and projects.

The RISE program offers two different ways for students to be involved:

  1. Residential Program (for incoming freshmen) - Students live together with other RISE students on designated RISE floors in Hubbard Hall and receive many unique benefits to enhance their education.

  2. Environmental Studies Specialization  - This specialization is added to a students major after their freshmen year. Students do not need to be in the residential program to add this specialization. Any student with a major in one of the participating colleges can be involved in RISE.
