Requirements

 

A number of essential components are required for application to all graduate programs in the Department of Zoology. Your application will not be reviewed until all of these components have been received. These components, along with the University requirements, may be found at http://www.zoology.msu.edu/academics/admissions.htm.

Acceptance to the proMSc in Zoo and Aquarium Management requires that the applicant has maintained a 3.0 grade point average. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required for students following the B.S./M.S. pathway.

In addition to a working knowledge of computer applications, students are expected to have completed the following courses or equivilents from their B.S./B.A. degree.

  • Ecology (ZOL 355/355L)

  • Animal Behavior (ZOL 313)

  • Genetics (ZOL 341)

  • Evolution (ZOL 445)

  • Introduction to Zoo and Aquarium Science (ZOL 369)

 

One or more of the following:

  • Ichthyology (FW 471)

  • Biology of Mammals (ZOL 365)

  • Biology of Birds (ZOL 360)

  • Biology of Amphibians and Reptiles (ZOL 384)

 

One of the following:

  • Conservation Biology (FW 444)

  • Marine Biology (ZOL 353)

 

One of the following:

  • Wildlife Biometry (FW 324)

  • Ecosystem Processes (FW 364)

  • Population Analysis and Management (FW 424)

  • Administration and Operations of Parks and Recreation Systems (PRR 370)

  • Introduction to Zoogeography (ZOL/FW 370)
