PSM - Industrial Microbiology

The Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics at Michigan State University recognizes the special needs in industry for microbiologists with training beyond the Bachelor's level, but with a practical emphasis not often achieved in the more academically-oriented graduate degree programs. It is the objective of this program to train microbiologists that combine practical skills and strong research experience so that they can succeed in venues such as pharmaceutical manufacturing, food processing, biotechnology, and bioremediation, where the need for such training is acute.

The program is intended for students who have completed a B. S. or B. A. degree in one of the biological sciences and who wish to prepare for a scientific career outside of academia.
