Curriculum
The curriculum will include courses with significant practical application, including biotechnology and genomics. Also included will be two seminar courses relating to industrial microbiology, bioengineering, and related topics in applied microbiology. Degree requirements include a minimum of 30 credit hours, of which approximately half would normally be from graded coursework, while the balance would be from research credits (MMG 899). A typical course curriculum is shown below.
A research project is required. The project will be designed in cooperation between a faculty mentor and a corporate partner. This project may take place at MSU and/or at a corporate sponsor's facility.
Each participant is required to undertake an internship with an industrial partner, normally the same company cooperating on the research project.
