CNS Recent Alumni Award

 

This award is presented to CNS alumni who have graduated within the last 15 years and shown outstanding professional growth. Award recipients exemplify the MSU commitment to the land-grant mission of teaching, research and outreach activities through their dedication to professional, community and MSU service.

 

Nominations are submitted by CNS faculty, staff and alumni. The Board of Directors of the CNS Alumni Association selects the recipient and presents the award at the annual CNS Awards Convocation.

Brian LangleyBrian Langley

Brian Langley is a 1999 graduate of MSU with a major in chemistry and a minor in physics and secondary education certification. He also earned a Masters in Curriculum and Teaching in 2002.

Langley did his student teaching at Stockbridge High School and before joining Novi High School in 2000 where he teaches physics, chemistry and general science.

Langley has demonstrated outstanding skill in teaching science and engaging students. He was honored with the 2007 National Milken Educator Award - one of the nation's most prestigious education awards. He has also organized students to participate in charitable organizations. for five years, his classes have participated in Toys For Tots and donated more toys than did the rest of the school. He also worked with his students in conducting charitable fundraisers for the American Cancer Society and Sweet Dreams.

Langley is involved professionally and serves on the Novi Community Schools Online curriculum Committee and Professional Learning Community Committee. He is an active member of the Michigan Science Teachers Association and the Michigan Education Association.
