Councils and Committees

 

Dean's Student Advisory Council (DSAC)

DSAC is an organization whose purpose is to advise the Dean on issues concerning undergraduate and graduate students within the College of Natural Science and to promote the interests of these students.

 

Faculty Advisory Council (FAC)

The College FAC advises the Dean on matters of importance to the faculty and college, nominates representatives to the Academic Council and to other all-University committees, selects faculty members for college committees, and selects nominees for the Distinguished Faculty Awards, Teacher-Scholar Awards, and Excellence in Teaching Awards.

 

Curriculum Committee

The Curriculum Committee deals with undergraduate and graduate curricular matters, and works with administrators in an advisory capacity on matters of curriculum. The committee is also an advisory body in the area of educational policies. It examines and evaluates policies relating to subject matter, methods of instruction, academic advising, graduation requirements, and curriculum revision.

 

Graduate Committee

The Graduate Committee is the coordinating committee for the Graduate programs of the College and shares responsibility with the Dean on matters concerning these programs. The committee is a formal channel of communication on matters involving the graduate programs and research activities in the College that may be received from individuals, department chairpersons, or department faculty members.

 

Promotion and Tenure Committee

The Faculty Promotion and Tenure Committee has shared responsibility with the Dean in making recommendations regarding promotion and tenure of faculty appointed in the College.

 

Scholarships and Awards Committee

The Scholarships and Awards Committee handles the selection procedures for all endowed scholarships and awards at the College level. The committee selects the endowed award winners as defined by the guidelines of the scholarship or award.

 

Women's Advisory Committee

The Women’s Advisory Committee identifies issues of importance for the recruitment and retention of women in the College. The committee is a resource for the Dean's Office regarding policies that affect women and also helps develop strategies to implement the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) recommendations.
